Bridging the Digital Divide: Inspiring Stories from Retired Educators

Through our partnership with Rubicon Foundation, which empowers communities to become financially independent, we are excited to share the inspiring stories of Deepali G, Shivaji G., and Shubhada G.R. These remarkable individuals have set on a journey of exploration, embracing technology after retirement and unlocking new possibilities in their lives.

Deepali G.: Navigating the World of Technology with Confidence

Meet Deepali G., a 64-year-old resident of Pune, whose curiosity and determination led her to pursue technology skills after retiring from her career as a school teacher. Joining the GetSetUp program, Deepali found herself immersed in a world of endless possibilities. She shares that finding a supportive community along with expert guidance provided by GetSetUp has been immensely valuable to her technological growth.

Through active participation in GetSetUp sessions, she gained confidence in creating compelling videos using the InShot app, showcasing her creativity and storytelling abilities. Additionally, Deepali refined her photo editing abilities using Canva, creating exquisite invitation cards and postcards that she aspires to eventually instruct others in as well. 

Shivaji G. D.: Connecting Communities through Technology

Shivaji, a 63-year-old resident of Ahmednagar District, is a prime example of the power of technology. After retiring from his position as a principal at a government school, Shivaji joined the GetSetUp program to stay connected with the evolving digital landscape.

Despite facing challenges with internet connectivity in his village, Shivaji's participation in live sessions enabled him to directly interact with instructors and gain practical knowledge in real-time. As a result, Shivaji felt more confident using technology, particularly in capturing pictures and recording videos. With newfound skills, he is ready to explore future opportunities where he can help others too with photography skills that can be helpful in  strengthening bonds with loved ones through various social media platforms. Shivaji's passion for lifelong learning demonstrates that learning knows no boundaries and it is never too late to learn something new and explore newer opportunities. 

Shubhada G. R.: Showcasing Creativity and Confidence

Shubhada, a 59-year-old retired headmistress from Mumbai, shares that her experience with GetSetUp has significantly transformed her technological abilities. Joining the GetSetUp community empowered her photography and videography skills which was helpful when  attending events and seminars as an examiner. This newfound confidence also helped her to document precious moments at family events too through her smartphone. Shubhada's journey reflects the remarkable personal growth that can be achieved through technology, especially when the right guidance is provided along with the support of a welcoming community.
