- ligibility & Mental State: You must be above 21 and of sound mind to create a valid Will.
- Gather Information: Make a list of all your assets (movable & immovable) and liabilities.
- Choose Beneficiaries: Decide who will inherit your assets and specify their share clearly.
- Appoint an Executor: Select a trustworthy person to manage the distribution of your assets as per the Will.
- Write the Will: You can write it yourself (handwritten preferred) or use a lawyer for a more complex Will.
- Signing & Witnessing: Sign the Will in the presence of two witnesses who should also sign, stating they saw you sign it while being of sound mind.
- Language & Clarity: Use clear and concise language to avoid any ambiguity in your Will.
- Date & Update: Date your Will and consider updating it every few years or for major life changes.
- Safekeeping: Store your Will in a safe place and inform your executor and close family members about its location.
- Registration (Optional): While not mandatory, registering your Will with the authorities can add an extra layer of security.
